Six well-known trips, compared on length, departure point day trips from Paris by coach and starting price, so you can choose with your calendar and budget in mind.
Paris is a hard city to leave, even for a day. Yet some of France's best sights lie a few hours away. The problem is choice. Day excursions from Paris range from a half-day at a palace to a 14 hour trip into Belgium. This page puts the most popular ones side by side, using the details listed by Paris City Vision, the official Paris licensee of Gray Line, at the time of writing.
The six options at a glance
All prices are "from" figures at the time of writing (October 2026). Higher tiers add a guide, lunch or hotel pickup.
Comparing day excursions from Paris by theme
Versailles
The easiest win. Reserved-access tickets for the palace and gardens, about an hour inside the Royal Apartments with a guide and earphones, then free time. Ideal if you only have one spare morning.
Normandy D-Day
History with real weight. Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, Arromanches and Juno Beach with a licensed guide who specialises in the landings. Long and sombre, but deeply moving.
Mont-Saint-Michel
The postcard icon. A guided village walk and the Benedictine abbey, including the cloister and the refectory. Many steps, so not for those with walking difficulties.
Loire Valley castles
Three châteaux in one day: Chenonceau, Chambord and Cheverny, with entrance tickets and a licensed guide. Lunch is not included.
Bruges
A trip into Belgium for canals and medieval squares. The guided walk covers the Béguinage, the Burg and the Markt, and a canal cruise runs from April to October. Bring a passport if you are a non-EU resident.
Disneyland Paris
A one-day, two-park ticket with a shuttle. The ride takes at least an hour. The shuttle leaves the park at 7:00 p.m. and gets back around 8 to 8:30 p.m.
Which one suits you?
Short on time
Choose Versailles. A half-day leaves room for a museum or a Seine cruise later. If you want a palace and the city in one day, this is the only option on the list that allows it.
Interested in history
Normandy is the obvious pick, particularly for American, British and Canadian travelers. Allow for the long day and note that, from February 2026, access to Pointe du Hoc is partly restricted by renovation work.
Love architecture
Mont-Saint-Michel or the Loire. The abbey is a single dramatic site, while the Loire spreads three very different castles across the day.
Want something different
Bruges adds a second country to your trip. It suits travelers who have already done the main French sights.
Traveling with children
Disneyland is the easy choice for younger kids. Versailles also works well thanks to its gardens and shorter visit.
What else to compare
Price and length are only part of the story. Check what is included, how big the group is, whether the guide speaks your language and what the cancellation rules say. On most Paris City Vision day trips, cancellation is free up to 2 days before departure. Disneyland needs 3 days, and groups of 10 or more follow different terms.
If you are weighing several companies, our checklist on How to Compare Day Excursion Operators Side by Side walks through the questions worth asking. For general visitor information about the city and the region, the Paris tourist office is a useful starting point.

Self-guided, audio or fully guided?
Most of these day excursions from Paris come in tiers. The cheapest gives you transport and tickets, then lets you explore alone. The middle tier adds a guide or an audio guide. The top tier adds comfort, such as lunch or hotel pickup. Here is how the steps look at the time of writing (October 2026):
- Mont-Saint-Michel: from €89 at leisure, €105 audio guided, €125 guided.
- Loire Valley: from €90 self-visit, €120 with a guide, €225 with hotel pickup.
- Bruges: from €85 self-visit, €120 guided, €210 with hotel pickup.
- Normandy: from €119 without lunch, €135 with lunch, €189 with lunch and pickup.
For a first visit to a complex site, the guided tier usually pays for itself in context and time saved.
Spacing your excursions
If you plan more than one, avoid putting two 13 or 14 hour days back to back. Mix a long trip with a short one, like Normandy on Tuesday and Versailles on Thursday, and keep a city day in between. You will enjoy both more.
